Color changes!

I moved the chair out of my bedroom and into the living room again.  Covered it with a blanket and changed the pillow covers.

Here is the sofa, with a different sofa cover. I love my pillow covers.  I got them at 99 cents store.

On the "feast table", added St. Patrick.  I left the icon of the "Sacred family"  I love the height of St. Joseph.  March is dedicated to St. Joseph.

I will be working this week in the attic rooms.  So you will probably see some posts on that later.

Small Changes

Yesterday, I worked in to areas in my home.

The Master Bedroom, and the living room.  The projects where not finished.  There are still some things left to be done today.

But here are a few pictures.

In the living room, I changed the window curtains, to all white with small purple flower details.  Here you see the "Feast table".  February is dedicated to the Holy Family.  I had not made changes on the feast table until yesterday. Now we are in March.  So some of the icons will be placed elsewhere in the home.  And St. Patrick and St. Joseph's icons will be displayed here for March.  The color on the cross represents the Lent Season.

I
n the master bedroom, I made lots of changes too.  My husband had wanted a comfy chair in the room for him.  But recently told me he did not want it in the room any longer.  So I moved it out of the room into the living room.

This allowed me to move the bed away from the wall and place a small side table next it.  This is my side.  I have a CD player with the rosary CD in it.  Ready to help me pray at night when I'm not able to sleep. The clock radio is set to the Catholic radio station.  The daily scriptures are read at 6:15 AM , Monday-Friday. I keep my journal on the bottom shelf and my bible.
I did not take more pictures of the room, because is not yet finished.  I will post those tomorrow or later if I can.

New Changes!

As you can see, I have added a few new icons to my prayer shrine (feast table).  The child Jesus, is wearing his new dress for this New Year.  His Godmother is very talented.  Even makes his shoes for him and the hat.  All handmade.

The smaller icon of the Child Doctor is new.  I brought it from Mexico.  I also brought a set of Archangels.  I only placed the 3 that are spoken of in the scriptures, St. Michael, St. Gabriel and St. Raphael.

Lent will soon come, starting this Wednesday.  The color of the table covering will change to purple in a few days.

I changed my Tupperware Modular tubs for this smaller ones.  I loved my Tupperware tubs, but this are much smaller.  And look nicer with the rest of the items in this corner.

Tuesdays I have prayer group at 9 AM.  Tomorrow we start Lent Season. I will be writing a post regarding this later this week.  Hope you have a blessed day.

Party Links

One of my favorite Party link is Delightful Thursday at Delightful Order. When I do not have time to browse thru the links, I know that DaNita will give us a countdown of the top 10 most viewed links and among them where some of my favorite.

Like this DIY project at A sprinkle of this

Or this unique way of organizing your purses .

Well, I get inspired.  But I must take action and do some projects of my own.  So I will see you later with some pictures of my own.

Have a great week.

Happy Friday!

What can I say.  My kids love me and fight over me.  This was only going to be, Mom and Son picture, but daughter could not resist and joined us.  It actually came out nice.

On Monday it was picture day at school.  So I started at about 6:20 AM to curl daughter's hair.  Hoping it will stay intact until picture time.  To make things worst it was a rainy day.  Her ride to school arrived before I was done, so I sent them off with Son only.  And I had no other choice but to take daughter to school myself.  She still arrived 15 minutes before the bell rang.

I used a ceramic curling iron, for these curls.  They lasted until picture time, but not all day.

Now remember my goal for this week.  To tackle the paper clutter, mainly in the office room. Yes, I got half of it done.  Just 15 minutes every day.  I sorted, shredded, filed and tossed in recycle bin. Most of the papers that were on my desk, and on top of printer.

I got rid of the boxes on the floor.

Here is another addition to my fall decor.  I got this glass punkin  at CVS.  I filled it with some fabric fall leaves.  I was thinking of filling it with cookies.  Maybe later.

Have a Fantastic Friday!

Something New

I added this two ceramic punkins to this small section in my home.  The punkins were bought at
Pier 1.  I think about 2 years ago.  They were $8 each.  I had a $25 gift card, so I  actually bought 3 but gave one two Mom for her birthday.

My next new item is a cake pedestal that doubles as a punch bowl.  I have always wanted one like this one.  I have seen similar ones, recently on different blogs.  This one in particular is from Princess House.  And I got it for free with my hostess credits.

The third and last item.  Is a  6qt. deep fryer, also from Princess House.  Retail value is $234.95, but I did not pay that much for it.

I only paid $39.95. Another bonus for my party sales.  I already used it to make fries.

The only problem I found is that I have to use a lot of oil. To be able to cover the items I want to fry. So I did something different. I placed the potatoes directly on the oil, instead of the fryer basket. Then I scooped them out and placed on the basket to drain out the oil.

The problem with this method was that I had some potatoes stuck to the pan. Great! I thought, "I just ruined my new pan.

I removed all the oil from the pan.  Placed some warm water and dish soap in the pan.  Let it soaked for like 2O minutes and then washed with a sponge.  The food stuck to the pan was easily removed.  Amazing!  Even better than the Teflon pans.

Have you ever hosted a party of your own?  What company?  Did you win anything?  Please share your answers in the comments.

Welcome Fall

A new season now begins!  And around my house the colors change.

First we added a new lamp to the kitchen.

2. Changed the linens in the Living room

3. The sofa cover and pillow covers were changed too.

4. The autum decor was added.

5. Some items were removed and stored away elsewhere, to make room for more interesting items.

The pitcher above the fridge, is seldom used and its always tucked away in a box.  I used it a few days ago, and before I placed it back in its box,  I thought I could give it another use.

I had a garland of foam fruit in the Fall decor bin, I placed that inside the pitcher.  Added some fall flowers, and there its  a nice looking vase.

Regarding the Tupperware Giveaway, can you believe no one has entered any comments.  I haven't received a single comment since I mentioned the Giveaway.

Makes me think, "Have I  lost all my readers, or are you  just not interested in Tupperware?"

In case you are interested in participating, here is the link to the Tupperware Giveaway post.

Great Savings!

I have been organizing my jewelry and now I have a drawer were I keep most of it but I wanted to show off some of the jewelry my daughter has made for me.  I went over to Michaels and found this:
It was under $7.  I placed the earing sets that I bought on the left side, and the sets that daughter made for me on the right side.

I also got at Michaels these two items:

A Vase

And a Chair

Both were 60% off regular price.  A savings of $20 on both.
I have been reviewing all the store receipts from last month.  I love it when they let you know how much you saved on the receipt.  Last month I saved, $167. I have been more aware of sales and have been using cupons and ecupons at my local grocery store.  And sometimes I buy at a grocery outlet store.  I have found great deals there too.

At Target, if you pay with you Red card you get an extra 5% off your purchase.

I will be making a track sheet for all my expenses and savings, and at the beginning of each month I will let you know how much I have saved on the prior month.

Its time for 7 minute blessings!

To Do List

I could not wait to show you this project.  Inspired by a post shared by Tiffany at Family at the foot of the Cross

My To do List:

I had some stamps that I bought at Michaels craft store.  A decorative tape from 99 cents store, paper and construction paper and used my computer and printer to make the words: To do list, have, and Love others.

Scrapbook scissors to cut paper and there it is, my to do list.

What's on your to do list?

Kitchen Window

Summer is coming soon, though some of us are still getting rough weather, we are praying for warm, sunny days to soon come.

Here in Northern California, we had some cloudy days and showers.  The kids do not get out of school until a few more weeks.

Meanwhile here in our home, I'm beginning to change the decor from Spring to Summer.

Starting with the kitchen window.  I was thinking of a theme for the summer and decided on this:

I had found 3 similar valances at a thrift shop and sew them together to make a longer window covering for the laundry room.  I took one apart from the other two and now I have one for the kitchen window and the other two will go in the home office.

I love light houses.  They remind me of Jesus being the light of the world, and my guide.  The eagle reminds me of the scripture, " and you shall mount up with wings like eagles" Isaiah 40:31

And the flags well 4th of July is coming up next month.  I am thankful to God for being an American Citizen by birth.  And that my children are now second generation Americans.

Thank you Lord Jesus for the "Dream Act", a chance for students not born in USA to be able to fulfill their dreams of higher education.

The kitchen window display helps me to meditate in God's word and pray.  When I'm washing my dishes, I like to pray for others.  It is a time of relaxation for me.  I offer up my works to God.

St. Therese will offer all the little things she did to God.

When I am cleaning my home, I am blessing my family.

What do you have near your sink that inspires you?

Tour Continues Part 2

Let's begin at the entrance.  Above the door, a sign that says, "Always remember to count your blessings".  I think I found this at Ross.  I had this for a about four years.

The small pillow hanging on the door, I found at the 99 cents store.  The word "Hope" was my word for last year.  The grandfather clock, a wedding gift.  I love it. It sound a chime every hour.  This one is from JC Penney.  Still have the manual, somewhere on file.

Next you meet, St. Francis.  This statue was a gift from my sister.  On the basket it holds a bottle of Holy Water.  The stones on the floor were used in during the Holy week, I have not yet taken outside.  I might use them as door stoppers.

Another favorite wall frame.  The thinking cherubim.  With a prayer," Bless this home and all who enter."
Below a picture of my husband's family when they were very young with their Mom.

The new changes in the living room.  All Media equipment and huge TV on one side.  This also where I have family pictures of my parents and sisters.

The pictures of my children.  Kenia, Marah, and Julian.  The Angel represents the 3 miscarriages I had.  I never knew the gender of the babies but they are still special to me.

My sisters and their families.

The wedding picture of my spouse and I,  top left.
The wedding picture of my sister and her husband, to the right.

Sofa, covered in  favorite sofa cover. I change the sofa covers often.  It almost seem like I have a new sofa each time.

Kitchen cabinets, displaying all the glass ware collections.  The wedding cake toper, and wedding champagne glasses.

Before we continue to another room.

Above are pictures of my husband's family.  The door takes you to the first room of the house. Currently occupied by my brother.  But we will skip that room for now.

Next room, The kids room.  We will skip this one as well.

Third bedroom:  the Master room.

King size bed.

Wedding picture.  Lamp purchased at a swap meet.

TV area.  Husband decided to place tv on wall.  This is the extra dresser.  For a master bedroom, they did not think of a walking closet.  I should had said something before they started building the house.  Now I have to deal with it.

On the  dresser, pictures of our youngest.  Our wedding candles, a reminder to keep the light of God in our home.

Above the closet.  A prayer for married couples.
A reminder of the marriage retreat we made four years ago.
And stay tuned to the continuation.
Till next time,
Have a blessed day.
