St. Martha's Day

Today we remember St. Martha. She was the sister of Mary and Lazarus. Remember the sister who was doing all the house work while Mary was attentive to Jesus' teachings.

Some of us women, get so into our house chores and other activities that we forget to be attentive to God. I do that often. Yes, it is important to do our house work but is more important to spend time in God's word and in prayer. I get energized when I spend time in prayer and reading the bible. And if I make this my first priority of the day, the rest of my day is stress free. Lately, I have been neglecting my quiet time with God. I start of my day cleaning or sitting in front of the computer web surfing and searching craft projects for my kids club.

Like today, I spent hours making copies and searching for projects online. I found this great craft idea for this Friday meeting.

The girls will be learning about St. Agnes. We are following a program called the Little Flowers Girls' Club. Every week they learn about a Saint, a flower, and a virtue associated to the Saint. The flower associated to St. Agnes is the peony flower. The project that I found is a peony made of felt and attached to a barrette. I found this idea on yoonie-at-home Blog. So I looked for my materials that I had available at home and began the craft. I did not have the green felt needed for the leaf of the peony, so I went to Michaels to buy it. Came back and finished the peony.

I want the girls to make their own barrette. I want to make things easier for them, so I cut out all the parts for them. All they have to do on Friday is put it together and sew on the button. Thank you Yoonie for sharing this craft on the blog. Well, I have to end now is almost time for bedtime.

Library Day

During the summer, I take my kids to the library twice a month. This year we have bee going to the library every Tuesday. My kids borrow dvd movies from the library wich are due within a week. This is why we now go every week, to make sure we do not get over due fees. I like this because I do not have to purshase a movie or rent it. They see the movie for free and return it back to the library on the due date. Then they borrow another movie and sometimes a book too. Books need to be returned within three weeks of check out date. But we take them back the next Tuesday along with the video they borrowed. Unless they have not finished reading it yet. But usually the books is read in a few days. Well my daughter reads them in a day. She loves reading.

Do I borrow books too? Yes, I borrow books too. I do not borrow books every week. Since I do not have much time to read them within a week. This week, I borrowed two books about Catholic Saints, and the other is a book by Kathleen Norris.

I borrowed the books about the Catholic Saints because I started a kids club that meets every week on Fridays and they are learning the lives of Saints. I will write about the club more later. The other book talks about the author's faith. I have not read any of them yet, I only browsed the contents page and back cover for a brief review. I will write about the books later also.

Well, I have to end now I have something on the stove that needs my attention.

My Name

My name is Rosario, which is rosary in Spanish. When I was younger I disliked my name. It was to hard for others to pronounce it, so they will call me Rose, or by my middle name Edith. I love being called by my nickname Chayito. Most people whose name is Rosario are called by that nickname. But I hated being called Chayo, the more mature nickname, it made me feel old. LOL

Last year I came to love my name. First of all because it reminds me of the rosary. Secondly, because I was named Rosario in memory of my father's grandmother. In November 2008, I saw my grand aunt in Texas. She was so happy to see me. She told me that I reminded her of her mother. She asked me, "Do you know you were named after her?" She made me feel real special. Suddenly I learned to apreciate my name even more.

I love praying, but saying the rosary was not my favorite thing to do. I always fall asleep or get sleepy after a few misteries. I got an email from this lady that said that she uses her rosary to count her blessings. I thought that is a great idea. I also came up with the name for my blog with that idea, beads4prayer= rosary= Rosario.

I love my name. I thank God for giving my father the idea of giving me this name.

Menu Planner

Every week, I plan my menus for the week, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I make my grocery list and head to the store. It is much easier when you have pre-planned your menus for each week. But sometimes, I forget to follow my weekly menus and somehow my meals seem repetitious. At least my husband thinks so. So I reviewed my menus and made changes here and there. Now I have a three week menu plan ready. Hopefully, I will follow this one and not make changes again. My husband and children are very picky eaters, so is hard for me to try new recipes because they might not like what is in them. I eat everything. But I can not make separate meals for all of them. So I make simple meals that they love eating. Well is a little harder for dinner meals. Anyways. I like planning my meals because it releases me from that dreaded question. "What should I cook for dinner today?"

I have to go now, heading to the store to buy my weekly groceries.
