My heart burns with joy

Have you ever met someone and as you hear them talk your heart is filled with joy. Its as if you knew this person for years. I had an encounter a few weeks ago on Easter Sunday.

I went to visit my family, an hour away from my home. We went to Mass at noon. After Mass, my mom had an invitation to a friend's home. I had never been at this lady's home. As I walked into the house, I felt welcomed. The living room was full with tables and people that were complete strangers. It was raining that day, so they were all gathered inside to keep warm.

I looked around at the walls and saw all the wonderful Catholic icons this lady was devoted to. One of the icons was the Sacred heart. My mom told me how its a traditional custom for this lady that at their wedding they choose a patron saint for their family. They chose the Sacred Heart and the Imacculate Heart of Mary.  Each of their daughters were also consecrated to Sacred Heart of Jesus.

I then heard the story from the lady herself. As she talked, my heart was filled with joy.  Later that week , I read in the gospel of Luke the story of the two disciples on their way to Emmaus. How they recognized Jesus as he broke bread, and how their hearts burned with joy as Jesus spoke to them about the scriptures.

This past Sunday, I was reminded again in the homily that we are able to recognize Jesus at the breaking of bread. But not just at Mass. We can also have an encounter with Jesus at any event were we have food. We are gathered with people and each time, we have the opportunity to help this people know Jesus. Or we recognize Jesus in them. Wow!

We do not need to be theologians to be able to take part in God's plan. All we need to do is to ask the guidance of Holy Spirit.

Today as I heard the audio devotional at Rezandovoy.org , the last words were, " you can be the bread for your brothers." I can help others to know God and he leads us to Jesus.  I hope you see how much God loves you. He has a plan for you. You are special to him. Never feel worthless. You and I can do so much. God bless you.

Two weeks have passed. My goal was to write a post each week.  I have so much to share but when I start writting I don't know what to write. And I choose the wrong time to write a post. Its almost time to rush out the door to drop off kids at school.

Have a blessed day.

April already!

Its now April, so much has happen since my last post.  New Year, new goals written.  In February we had a loss in our family. My father in law passed on to a better place. My husband traveled to Mexico with his siblings to arrange the funeral services and they stayed for the entire novena, nine days of prayer.

March is my birthday month, so I'm now a year older. 42 years old. I'm growing old with grace. One of my goals for this year is to write more blog post. I keep my journal entries as usual but I want to share some here too.

This year's Lent season went by quickly.  Last week week was Holy week and now is Easter. On Easter Sunday, I drove one hour to visit my family. We attended Mass at the Cathedral of the Annunciation in Stockton CA.  A beautiful service. During the homily there was a skit of the Roman Soldier in charge of keeping watch at the tomb. Its Spanish song by Miguel Cassina called, "El Vive!" He lives.

It moved my heart, then I got the idea that our youth should do this skit at our parish.  This Good Friday our youth presented the Viacrucis.
My son was Pontius Pilate. most of the soldiers are in First Communion class. The young boy who played the part of Jesus is in Confirmation class.  Two of the soldiers are in my class. The parents helped made the costumes for the soldiers. Its the first year that our youth does the viacrucis. In past years it was always the adults. Same version every year, with the same cast. This year it was so much different.

Every month the youth plan the Mass for the last Sunday. They are the lectors and during the Gospel reading they do a skit. I'm going to suggest the soldier's skit for this month's presentation.

I would love for my son to also be part of the skit. We need to make some props for the presentation. And we have plenty of time to work on them. Pray that I will be given the OK to do this skit.
