MY FAITH

I'm Catholic.  Baptized Catholic when I was one year old.  My parents were still married at the time. There are pictures of my baptism.  No questions about this important sacrament in my life.  This is the sacrament of initiation within a Catholic Church.  Makes me a member of the church.

However I also consider myself a Christian. Why?  Well Catholics believe in Jesus Christ.  The first followers of Christ were the Apostles and later after Jesus's death and resurrection, the followers of Christ were called Christians right?

But this is not the only reason why I'm a Christian.  As a child I attended an evangelic church, my aunt has attended this church for decades.  She would fill  her small car with her nieces and nephews, and took us to Sunday school.  In Sunday school we learned about the bible stories.  We learned about Moses, Noah, Jonas, David, and we also learned about Jesus.  Our savior Jesus.  Our redeemer, our healer, our counselor.

We learned beautiful things during our Sunday school years.  But as we grew older and the rules and traditions of this church did not agree with our views,  we slowly began to drift away.

Over the years we (my sisters and I) began attending different churches.  We were thirsty for God.  We yearned to learn about Jesus.  But we were not yet willing to give up on our Catholic traditions. After years of searching we came upon a Baptist Church.  Brookside Community Church.  We liked this church.  There was Sunday school classes, everyone had a class.  The youth group was awesome.  I was already too old for the youth group but occasionally, I will attend youth activities and volunteered as a counselor during summer camp events. We were at this church for four years.

Why did we stopped going to Brookside? Our Pastor decided to go back to school to obtain his Doctorate degree. He will be away for a long time, so he resigned. This was heartbreaking for all the members. So instead of staying to welcome the new Pastor many drifted away to other churches.

Before I make this story longer.  Let me tell you that my search continued. I searched for the right church.  I did not feel the same at Catholic Mass.  I did not feel that presence of God like at the Christian Churches.  However,  I continued  attending the Catholic church weekly.  I met my husband, married within the Catholic church.  He is also Catholic, but his family does not attend church often.  I slowly again, drifted away from church.  I became a TV Christian.  I watched all the Christian programs on TV. Joyce Meyer was my favorite.  I bought lots of books. I read the bible occasionally.  I listened to Christian music.  My husband said I was crazy.

So I began to pray for my husband, to get closer to God.  I began to pray for God to lead me to a good bible based church. Many years passed.  And in 2005, I found that church.  Living Hope Christian Center.  I had many arguements with my husband, because he could not understand why I wanted to attend this church.  He did not understand why I prayed on my knees, why I read the bible.  This was all weird to him.

I wish I could say that my husband finally understood me.  But he did not, in fact he still thinks I'm weird. LOL.  I attended Living Hope for four years.  I'm very grateful to the Pastors of Living Hope.  I deepen my faith in God.  The fellowship there was awesome.  I was  treated well. My children loved it there. So why did I stopped going to Living Hope.  It was God's plan.  He had other plans for me.

I could tell you the whole story, but I do not want to make this boring to you.  I came back to the Catholic Church.  I have been active at my local parish for three years now.  I'm a Cathechist.  I have attended Catholic theology classes and I just finished  Cathechist training course and received my certification approved by the Diocese.

Its been a long journey, a searching for the right place. Our plans are not always God's plans.  He had  a purpose in all of this.  He wanted me to see how different other churches are.  He wanted me to know Jesus  the way our Christian brothers and sisters know him.  To fall in love with Him, so much that I was willing to be obedient and return to the Catholic faith.  I can't say this will be forever.  I follow God's will in my life not my own.

I do pray that my husband will come to know Jesus.  It is my wish for all of us to attend church together, every week.  My husband only seeks God when he need for him.  I can't change my husband's thinking. Only God can do that.  Only God can call him at the right time.  My job is to pray until something happens.

I also pray that my children will always walk in Gods paths.  I pray that they will make the right choices.  That they always follow God's voice.  I pray they always have good friends.

So now you know were I come from, who I am, you know about my religious background.  And in this blog you will read more about my family, my faith, my fitness goals, my health, and my adventures in home organization.
