Updates!

Hi Everyone.  Hope you all had a great weekend.

Let me tell you a little of my weekend.  Like I had said before.  I was waiting for this flea market sale hosted by the church.  I had my stuff pretty much ready.  All I had to do was, pack my car and head to church early to set up.

Unfortunately the person in charge of the event, did not plan this well.  We had to post the signs up.  And I'm not sure why, but not very much buyers came by.  I even texted friends and family to come by.

The good thing was that there was another event going on on the premises.  So a few of those people came over to see.

In all we made $27.  Daughter sold a few of her dolls and barbie cars.  We still had most of the stuff left but we are hoping that next weekend we will have better luck.  Someone told us the best time to put a garage sale is the first weekend of the month.

This will be my last try before I just take everything to the nearest thrift shop.   Most of our items were priced for a dollar.  Except for daughter's dolls that are still intact in their boxes, these are priced at $5.  And the porcelain dolls too.  We sold two of the porcelain dolls on Saturday.

At the house, my son and I, worked together to clean his room.  He bought a new Lego set with his birthday money.  I was glad we waited because he got a discount of $10 on it.  So before he took all the pieces out we cleaned his room and added the coffe table to his room.  Now he has a place to put together his Legos, and a place to store them.  I plan to use the shoe cubbies with small clear boxes for smaller sets.

For now they will be stored in these bead sorters.
 I got this at Michaels.
I categorized the pieces by color.

He also purchased a tank for his fish.
 We will add decor later.

And we found this Yoda figurine at a much bigger flea market.
The price, only $3.

Let me know what you think of my son's room.  Have a beautiful day.

No pictures yet!

I have not been able to post the pictures of daughter's room.  I have been busy with other unexpected duties.  But I will try to post by next Tuesday.

Please say a prayer for all the people in the world going through natural disasters.  In just a few days, we had a few earth trembles in our area.  And as you all know in the East Coast too.

Here in California we are used to this kind of earthquakes, but its very rare in the EAST.

As well as its rare that the West Coast get any hurricanes  or twisters.

But we should trust God and know that he is in control, and he will protect us.

Have a blessed weekend.

This Week's Goals

One of my favorite blogs is a bowl full of lemons.  I love Toni's ideas for organization.  And occasionally, I join her linky parties.   I want to share with all of you, my goals for this week.

Last week, I was working in Son's room, and home office.  I also had time to do the main bathroom and the laundry room area.  My daughter worked in her room on her own.  Then we had the party on Saturday, so I had to to the best I could to make each room presentable.

I am not finished yet.  This weekend our parish is hosting a yard sale.  And I saved a spot to sell my stuff there.  The donation for the spot is $20.  But I get to keep the profits of my sale.  Or I could donate my items to the church and they keep the profits.  I thought it was much more fun, to sell my items and the church still gets a donation.

So I have my items all ready waiting in the attic.

Daughter's room is also located in the attic.  So my goal for this week is to get as much of the extra clutter out of her side.   Here are some picture of how the room looked before she moved in.

And here are some current pictures.

This is, at the beginning of the transformation.  At first she had made the futon sofa her bed, but then I took her bed, up into the attic.  The futon sofa, will be used for the family room area.

I added some chest drawers for her clothes.  Emptied out the costume closet to make room for her dresses, uniforms, jackets, and coats.

We purchased a new bed cover, to make her room look stylish.  Remember she is all into fashion.

Added some matching bowls and baskets for storage.  We are not done yet.  And I will post the finished room on Thursday.  Sharing it at Delightful Order, another one of my favorite places to link.

By the way, the inspiration room, is a creation of  DaNita.  I love her style.  Daughter loved it so much, but decided to use her favorite color aqua blue, instead of red.

You might had noticed the frame on the wall of a purse.  Its similar to DaNita's , my son drew this for his sister.  And my daughter colored it.

So stay tuned to my next posts.  And visit Abowl full of lemons and Delightful order for more ideas and inspiration.

The Party

This year, son's party theme was Star Wars. We decided to leave the planning to last minute, so I came up with a few ideas.

We did not get the table cover or the goody bags with the theme either. And the pinata was not related to the theme.

But we had fun.

My sister made the cake for Julian. Since he is our musician, she decided on a guitar instead of making something with star wars theme.  I did make some cupcakes that my sister helped decorate.  We got the ideas from just Jenn recipes

She has great ideas and easy to make. Love it.  Will be using her ideas for other parties in the future.

Husband had a birthday this past week too! So the other cake was for him to blow out his own candle.

My daughter made lifesaver labels for the food.

This reminds me that I have not shown you the pictures of her room, and the finished office.  I did some crisis clean up, on Saturday morning because  I did not have time to finish everything before the party.  This means some things were hidden out of the way to deal with them later.

I promise to get it done this week.  No more hiding clutter away.  Next weekend the church is holding a yard sale, and I have saved a spot to sell my extra clutter there.  I hope it all goes bye bye.  But its not coming back into my house.

I hope you all had a wonderful Summer.  Most of you already started school.  My kids start school tomorrow.  So that means I am going to bed early to make it to school on time tomorrow.  My kids are all ready.  Daughter has a new look.  Show you pictures tomorrow.  She wants me to keep it a secret until all her friends see her tomorrow.

Not Finished!

I not yet finished with my home office, but I have made some progress.  The piles of paper have been, tamed down.  And I'm ready to start filling in the drawers in my crafts desk.  The kids will have a desk in their rooms for their homework area.  But they will be allowed to use the crafts desk, with one condition.  That they clean after they are done with their projects.

I will limit for now the activities.  Mainly scrapbooking and gift wrapping.  I had been thinking of merging my sewing area with the craft area.  But I do not have enough storage space for everything.  So I will keep the sewing stuff upstairs.

Here are the before pictures:

Quite a mess, and the problem is that is an open space.  Meant to be a dinning room.  But I'm not sure why the person who did the house plans decided to place it in between the kitchen and bathroom.  I will had prefer it to be after the living room area.  That's why, I decided to make this into my office instead.

Now for the after pictures.  Remember, I'm not done yet!

Above the pantry I have three boxes, one has all kinds of cards and momentos that I will like to use in my scrapbook album.  The one in the middle has all the greeting cards.  And the last box has clippings of  Catholic icons, that I will use for the Faith Formation class (CCD).

I moved the big magnetic calendar, and added another dry erase board.

On the desk:
A start in organizing, all the craft supplies.  You see the day calendar.  I bought this at Target.  I added contact paper to make it more stylish.

I still have work to do.  But I know have pretty much categorized all the keep items.  I have to re-do my incoming mail and files.  But I will work on that next week.  I will have one file box for Faith Formation Class, one for Tupperware business, and one for all the other files.  File cabinet has husband's papers, and all the important files, financial papers, etc.

Tomorrow I will show you the pictures for the complete project and Daughter's room.
Today, working to finish office, and daughters room.
Tomorrow, the laundry room and bathroom.
Saturday, is party day.

Sons Room

My daughter decided, she was not going to share a room with her brother any longer.  She took some of her stuff up into the attic room, and set up her room there.  Made some mess, by shoving some of the things off to a corner to make room for her stuff.

I had to  make changes in  Son's room.  Move the furniture and bring order to the mess he did in just a few days alone.

The following picture are from a few months ago.  I forgot to take pictures of before I started cleaning. Yet, the images are similar to what the room looked before.

the path to the closet
the dressers
the beds

Daughters bed was taken upstairs.  It was a struggle.  The huge white desked moved into the home office.  And her dresser in now in my bedroom.  Gave her mine because it was less heavy to carry upstairs.

Here is Son's new room, after the changes.

There is still some stuff that needs to be organized, and last night I got some new ideas.  After his Birthday party, I plan to make his room decor into Star Wars Theme.  We still have to organize some of his toys they will be on a shelf similar to the one were the TV is on.  But for now, this is good.

Tomorrow, I will share pictures of daughters room, and home office.

Happy Birthday!

Today we celebrate the 9th Birthday of my son, Julian.

Wow, a year went by so quick.

Yesterday was also the Baptism anniversary for my daughter Marah on the feast of Mary's Assumption.
We went to Mass and Julian served for the first time as an altar server.

Marah has been serving as an altar server for about a year now.  And she was showing her brother what to do.

This week, I will be working in the kids rooms and home office.  I hope that by Friday, I can show you some pictures of my progress.

The Kitchen

After browsing through some blogs for inspiration on how to make improvements to some problem areas in my home.  I told myself.  I don't have a magic wand to just make them as nice as I want.  I have to do the work.  And I must start somewhere.

So my first achievement today was the kitchen.

I first washed all the dirty dishes, then I scrubbed the stove, counters and table.  Last, I swept and mopped the floor.

Tomorrow, I will continue with another room.  But I feel much better now that at least my kitchen and living room are clean.  In the morning, I had to wash the sofa cover because, Son spilled juice all over it and on the floor.  So I also swept and mopped the living room this morning after breakfast.

Thank you for continuing to follow my blog and occasionally stop by and leave me comments.

Just the start!

I moved the fridge back into the kitchen were it belongs.  Its huge, and it take up lots of space.  But I prefer it to be close to me in the kitchen.  To avoid the impulse of dumping things on top, I added some decor.  Items, I had in my home.

On the side facing the hallway.  I have my command center.  I like that the front is not magnetic.  Here, I have my daily schedules, kids chore chart, monthly menu, and important numbers.
Under the sink.  I forgot to take a before picture.  I got this stackable baskets at Walmart under $5 fort the set of 3. Organized all the cleaning supplies.  I am going to add another basket for the clean rags used in the kitchen for drying dishes and those spills that often occur in homes.

I also organized the pantry.  The home office is still in need of organizations, piles of stuff on the desk.  Now we have to big desk.  One for the computer and the other for homework and hobbies.  I have been wanting to start scrapbooking.

I still have to work in both kids rooms and the entrance to the attic.  Looks like instead of cleaning out the clutter, I made more mess. Ahh!! Sometimes I feel I will never get this house in order.  But I must keep calm and take it a little at a time.  It is not as easy as you see on TV.  When those reality shows come in and get it all done for you.

Multiple rooms transformations

I have neglected my blog, for many other activities.  But now I need your advice.  Daughter decided to move into the room in the attic, creating a big mess in her previous room and in my almost organized attic. NOT! Well the attic was not messy but it was not organized either.

I started moving furniture around.  Taking a bed, and clothes drawer upstairs for daughter to use. Then I, moved furniture in now Son's room.  I then decided to move the refrigerator back into the kitchen, and the pantry armoire into the office.  More mess.

So now I have 4 room undergoing changes.

What your need your help is in giving me ideas what to put on top of my refrigerator to make it look nice but avoiding to use it as dumping space for items.  I plan to do the same with the pantry.  Since it will now live in the office, I do not want it to be a place to stack clutter on top.

I can't believe how easy I make a mess when moving things around. So I will be busy for a few days organizing this rooms and making sure they are clutter free. Hope, I can finish before the 20th of this month.
